The First International Cultural Night and the Completion Ceremony of the First Chinese Language Training Class

The First Chinese Language Training Class for overseas students just finished recently. The Office of International Affairs at SWPU held the completion ceremony and organized the International Cultural Night in Sixue building on December 21st. Vice president Zhang Liehui made the opening remarks and presented the certificate to students.

President Zhang pointed out that language spreading, cultural transmission and the development of the country built upon each other. As economic globalization deepens, the connection between China and the world gets closer. He hopes these students can be the communicators, promoting cultural exchange, making more people get to know China and its splendid culture.

the First Chinese Language Training Class lasted for one semester, with 20 students in total, respectively from Russia, Pakistan, Ghana and India. It consisted of not only Chinese course, but also some characteristic courses like Taichi and calligraphy, which impressed the students very much.

As for the International Cultural Night, Russian student Liyang and Turkmenistan student Husheng hosted the activity. During the event, three Russian students performed Taichi, another two Russian students performed calligraphy work of the school motto on the spot. Russian student Mia narrated the 10 stereotypes people always held on Russia; Nigerian student Destina and Ghananian student Jacob brought us a passionate dance; Pakistan student J.K, along with a Chinese student sang an original song called “Unloved”.

“This event is totally fantastic, all the people acted in a high level, I’m also very satisfied with my own performance.” One of the performers Alyona said, “I’ll miss China after I go back to Russia.”

Du Ruifan, one of the audiences said:“ As Chinese, we should not allow the declining of national art treasures like calligraphy. As a young university student, we should try hard to protect and carry forward our great culture.”
