Recently the results of the final contest of 2016National English Contest for College Students have been unveiled , Wu Yuxiong,a sophomore from the School of Petroleum Engineering and whose major is OceanOil and Gas Engineering , has won the special prize,which is the only one ofnon-English major undergraduate group in our school.
Approved by the Higher Education Department of theMinistry of Education , the National English Competition for College Students(NECCS for short ) is jointly sponsored by the Advisory Board for CollegeForeign Language Teaching under the Ministry of Education and College EnglishTeaching & Research Association of China. Being the only comprehensiveEnglish ability competition for college students in China ,it’s divided intofour categories of A, B, C and D.
The preliminary contest of the 2016 National English Contestfor College Students was held simultaneously in more than 1300 colleges anduniversities in the 31 provinces,along with all autonomous regions andmunicipalities directly under the central government in China on April 10, withover 110 million college students participating. The final contest on May 8,according to preliminary proportion (6 per thousand ), had ten thousandcollege students participating simultaneously. The final contest of Sichuandivision was held at Sichuan University,with 9 undergraduate students from ourschool participating in the final. Wu Yuxiong, a sophomore from the School ofPetroleum Engineering and whose major is Ocean Oil and Gas Engineering , haswon the special prize,which is the only one of non-English major undergraduategroup in our school. The other 8 students has also won the first prize.
